“You will only be
remembered by how good your last bottle of wine tasted” is the Jim
Barry motto. He planted his vineyards in 1959, and swiftly became
one of Clare Valley’s great names. Today, his passionate,
cricket-mad
sons uphold the tradition of powerful flavours and brilliant
balance.
This wine is pale straw
in colour and displays a nose of limey citrus fruit and aromatic
floral characters. The palate is dry, with the chalky minerality
balanced by intense lime fruit and floral notes which linger on the
palate. |

This Sauvignon
Blanc/Semillon blend is a pristine, almost colourless, pale straw
yellow with green hues. It shows lifted aromas of tropical fruits
and freshly cut grass.
The palate is full and
ripe, again showing freshly cut grass, with a veritable fruit salad
of flavours—including paw-paw and kiwi fruit, with zesty lemon acid
at the finish. |

The 2004 Armagh shows
rich and savoury aromas of blackberry, liquorice, mint and toasty
oak. The palate is dense, concentrated, and shows rich extract, with
ripe black cherry, liquorice and mint, well integrated sweet oak and
velvety tannins.
This wine is ideal for
long term cellaring. We suggest that the wine is allowed to
‘breathe’ a minimum of two hours before being consumed to fully
appreciate the distinctive flavours and aromas. If the wine is older
than three years, decanting is necessary as the wine is unfiltered
and a deposit will appear with age.

This wine is deep garnet
in colour, with purple tints. On the nose there are intense aromas
of varietal fruit, with an underlying layer of complexity.

summer berries - primarily mulberry, strawberry and boysenberry,
with background nuances of rose petals and spearmint.
The fine

Drive (Cabernet Sauvignon) 2005 |

£10.85 |

This wine is
ruby/crimson in colour, with purple tints. The nose shows intensely
complex characters of rosemary, mint and coffee.
This is followed up
on the palate by an eruption of fruit flavours - primarily black
cherry and blackberry, with hints of mocha and dried herbs.
The tannins are fine
grained and supple and the wine has a long, integrated finish.
As with previous
releases of ‘The Cover Drive’, the wine displays harmonious balance
and can be enjoyed now or will reward cellaring for 2-3 years.

Small batch winemaking
techniques were employed to produce a wine which is full bodied with
excellent concentration and a well rounded structure.
The wine is deep claret
in colour, with characteristic Cabernet aromas of cassis and cigar
box. The palate is rich and textual, dominated by blackcurrants and
spice (primarily cloves and cinnamon). The tannins are velvety, and
the wine ends with a lingering liquorice, cherry finish.
