Louis Roederer Champagne...
Established in 1776, Champagne Louis Roederer
is one of the few remaining completely independent, family owned
Champagne Houses. By 1886 the House had achieved such a
reputation foe quality that the second Louis Roederer was asked
by Tsar Alexander II to create Cristal for the exclusive use of
the Russian Tsars, and in so doing created the first Cuvee de
Prestige.
In January 2006, the management of the House
passed from Jean-Claude Rouzaud to his son, making Frédéric
Rouzaud the generation of the family at the head of the company.
With 10 years already behind him at Louis Roederer, Frédéric’s
accession is doubly valuable; as a guarantee of continuity for
the House, and for the proven expertise he brings to this role.

Brut Premier
characterises the Louis Roederer style with the combination of
fresh, youthful fruitiness and the vinous qualities of a fully
matured wine. It is a structured wine with a linely attack and a
smooth palate.
Winemaker
Notes: The wine has a gilded color, with fine bubbles and a nose
of fresh fruit and hawthorne. On the palate, it is smooth and
complex with mingling fruit flavors of pear, apple, and red fruit of
blackberry, rasberry and cherry with toasted almonds. The wine is
enjoyable, smooth and straightforward.

Winemaking: The grapes are sourced from the finest crus with
a rating of 98 or more on Champagnes regional rating scale. Only
juice from the first pressing is used in producing Brut Premier. A
blend of 10 to 20 percent oak-aged vintage wines from Roederer's
extensive reserve cellars vintage wines is added to further enhance
the wine and give it its distinctive Roederer style. |

Cristal, the jewel of
Champagne Louis Roederer, was created in 1876 for the Tsar Alexander
II of Russia. It remains faithful to its origin, inspired by
elegance and purity. Cristal is produced with regimented standards
of winemaking that require a rigorous selection of crus, vintages,
grapes, and wine.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Brilliant
yellow with light amber highlights. A beautiful mousse with fine
cordon of persistent and regular bubbles.
Nose: Intense and
delicate. Revealing a clean and well-blended mixture of flavours of
honey, cocoa, lightly toasted hazelnuts, candied citrus fruit…
without exuberance, but luxurious simplicity!
Palate: A savoury
explosion of ripe fruit on the attack, revealing red fruit, white
chocolate, caramel and Danish pastry, typical of Cristal. Silky,
concentrated texture, leaning on intense, powerful and vinous
structure, but maintaining refinement. The palate builds up to
attain a delicious sensation of well-blended harmony of flavours. A
fresh finish with a hint of bitterness making it almost crunchy.
All the exceptional
characteristics of the 2002 vintage have literally been captured in
this 2002 Cristal, which is generous and lush, revealing perfect
balance between concentration and finesse, freshness and vinosity,
intensity and refinement. In three words: proud, rich and luxurious. |

Cristal, the jewel of
Champagne Louis Roederer, was created in 1876 for the Tsar Alexander
II of Russia. It remains faithful to its origin, inspired by
elegance and purity. Cristal is produced with regimented standards
of winemaking that require a rigorous selection of crus, vintages,
grapes, and wine.
Tasting
Notes: From the outset, the Cristal Vintage 2000 asserts its
finesse, balance and aromatic complexity - ripe, precise and
persistent but also light, refined and masterfully subtle.
Colour: Sustained
golden yellow tones shimmering with luminous green highlights and
ultra-fine, lively bubbles.
Nose: An intense,
precise but subtle nose. Opens with dominant aromas of fresh almonds
and sweet-smelling flowers then revealing riper nuances of lush vine
peaches, white chocolate, caramel and a sprinkling of lightly
toasted hazelnuts.
Palate: The
attack on the palate is sensual and fleshy with an almost caressing
mouth-feel.
More mineral notes come
through on the mid-palate – a testament to this Champagne’s
deliberately low dosage - supported by a refreshing crispness that
carries an impression of delicacy rather than strength. The overall
effect is one of precise elegance, a wine perfectly poised between
the structure of the Pinot Noir and the finesse of the Chardonnay,
marrying roundness and vinosity with a sense of freshness and verve.
The finish is long and
deliciously refreshing, underscored by harmonious, lightly
caramelised notes of the year’s great wines aged in wood. |
