Fertuna is located in the heart of the magnificent Tuscan Maremma, an area with great wine-making potential that is fast becoming known for its high-quality wines.
Created in 1997 to fulfil Giuseppe Meregalli’s and Marchese della Rochetta (Sassicaia) vision of building a super-premium estate, Fertuna proudly sits alongside other noble Italian wine brands also represented by the Meregalli family.
Messiio, that sounds like Messiah “the man who will come” (in this case “the wine that will be”) is the idea that originated this name.
It would be so easy to talk about a wine, about grapes and barriques, about the meticulous care of each producing step; but without the unique microclimate of this incredible Fertuna valley, we would not be able to achieve such a kind of result. The main ingredient, making us proud of the quality of Messiio, is the passion of everyone at the winery, quietly working with the sole purpose of making his best.
2009 Tasting Notes: Deep ruby with garnet reflex. The bouquet is ethereal and vinous, with intense hints of red berry fruits and vanilla. On the palate the wine is warm and soft, very well balanced and presents an incredible balance of tannins and acidity the an incredibley long aftertaste.
