The Rioja Region...
Nature is key in Rioja and vine growing and wine making have been a local tradition since medieval times. Rioja is a beautiful scenic region, offering varied and often rugged landscape. Rolling hills and gentle plains are crossed by the River Ebro under the watchful gaze of the Sierra Cantabria mountains. The climate in the region of Rioja is excellent for grape-growing. Hot summers and cold winters with relatively high rainfall are all perfect for producing top quality grapes which go into producing quality Rioja wines.
Riojas winemaking history goes back centuries reaping the awards of countless generations of experience and innovation. Location: North Central Spain, 120 Miles south of Bilbao. Landscape: Rolling hills and gentle plains dissected by the River Ebro. Climate: Continental with hot summers and cold winters. Vineyard Areas: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Baja. Harvest: Harvest in Rioja starts late September.
