Vinification Note: The grapes are harvested and vinified mis September. Maceration and fermentation lasts 6-7 days in temperature controlled horizontal tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in 1year old barrels and matured for a period of 12 months. Racking takes place several times to clirify the wine. Fining and filtration are not performed on the wine. Once bottled the wine is allowd to rest for 2 months before being released.
Tasting Note: The Barbera d’Asti Ca’ di Pian is a very upfront wine which currently shows a very balanced use of barrique. Ten months ageing succeeds in smoothing out any harsh acidity with the vanilla sweetness of new wood, without compromising the rich, red fruit.
