GRAPES: 100% Graciano.
WINEMAKER NOTES: Red purple colour. Great aromatic intensity: mineral graphite notes and berries, blackcurrant, mentholated notes, eucalypus, fennel and white pepper. Complex, wide and dense mouth, fruity and long finish with great acidity.
VINEYARDS: The grapes came from San Gregorio Grande plot: 3.7 ha planted in 1970 and 1989 (two areas).
VINTAGE: 2014 was a year with low rainfall during the vegetative cycle, but well laid out in the critical stages of the harvest.
WINEMAKING: Alcoholic fermentation took place in 100 hectolitre French oak vats at a controlled temperature of 28 to 30 degrees for 8 days. After maceration of another 7 days, malolactic fermentation took place in new french oak barrels and ageing remained in 100% new french (90%) and 100% new hungarian (10%) oak. After 15 months the wine was bottled for a year.
TASTING NOTES: This pure Graciano is a Contino speciality. It delivers a fragrant nose of cassis, aniseed and tobacco. A full and lingering palate with good acidity, soft tannins and a complex finish.
DELIVERY: All our wines are stored in our importers bonded warehouse’s, which have the optimum environment for fine wine storage, by carefully regulating temperature, humidity and other microclimatic factors.
