GRAPES: 62% Garnacha, 32% Graciano and 4% Viura.
UNIT: 1 x 75cl Bottle.
WINEMAKER NOTES: When producing this Rosado, Jesus Madrazo was looking for a Rosado wine with ageing capacity of at least 3 years. This is achieved thanks to the tannins of the barrel which provide structure and the good acidity of three varietals, Graciano, Garnacha and Viura which provide both ageing potential and freshness. This Rosado is full bodied wine ideal for partnering with food.
VINEYARDS: All Contino wines are made from grapes exclusively grown on the 62 hectare estate located in Laserna, near the town of Laguardia in the Rioja Alavesa wine making region. This was the first single estate concept in the Rioja region and was established in 1973.
VINTAGE: 2015 was a year of excellent quality in Contino, characterized by the absence of rainfall from May to October. The year began with a warm, dry winter and a rainy spring start. A month of August with temperatures above the average and without rain delayed the vegetative cycle but September arrived with some precipitation giving a respite to the plant and allowed for good maturation of the grape. The result was a late harvest of great quality.
WINEMAKING: The Contino Rosado is a blend of Graciano (33%), Garnacha (63%) and Viura (4%),The grapes are individually fermented using the Saignee ('bleeding') method and then blended together. aged for 8 months in oak.
TASTING NOTES: The latest exciting offering from Contino. This age-worthy Rosado is a stunning blend of Garnacha, Graciano and a little Viura.
