GRAPES: 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
The Dog Point version of the classic aromatic Marlborough style of Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes are hand-picked from eight of their own vineyards within the Wairau Valley. Cropped at an average of 7.5 tonnes/hectare (50hl/ha). The fruit is whole bunch pressed, cold settled before fermentation and 2-3 months aging in stainless steel tanks. A portion of this wine is fermented using indigenous yeast. Bottled without fining.
COLOUR: Pale straw.
AROMA: Bright, fresh, citrus driven sauvignon, with elements of honeydew melon, pears and gala apples in the background. A very pure, yet restrained, classic sauvignon expression.
PALATE: The citrus core of flavours are juicy and intense. Deliciously refreshing acidity and mellow rounded texture on the finish. The wine calls for fresh, simple seafood, but as usual, can be enjoyed on its own.
FOOD MATCH: Fresh, simple seafood dishes especially oysters. Also compliments goat's cheese well.
