Country/Region: France/AOC Alsace Grand Cru.
Grapes: 100% Riesling.
Unit: 1 x 75cl Bottle.
Vineyards: Domaines Schlumberger now own 130 hectares of vineyards, 70 of which are Grand Cru. The Saering vineyard faces east and south-east at an altitude of 260 -300 metres above sea level. The soil is comprised of marl/limestone/sandstone resulting in a delicate Riesling. Yields are 45 hl/ha.
Winemaking: The grapes are picked by hand and a pressing of the whole bunches follows. The must is left in the tank for static settling. The wine is cold-fermented in temperature controlled tanks. After fermentation, the juice remains in stainless steel tanks for a further 8-month period before bottling and spends a further month in bottle before release.
Vintage Information: 2012 was a successful vintage in Alsace thanks to a warm August and a cool, dry September which kept the vineyards free of disease. The Crémants, Pinots Noir and Gris, and Gewurztraminer's were all particularly successful.
Tasting Note: Golden in colour with green hues. Aromas of citrus in particular lime, camomile and stone fruits with a touch of white pepper. On the palate, the Saering displays great freshness and purity with a zippy grapefruit character, excellent minerality and finishes dry.
Food Pairing: Serve with seafood, sole or flat white fish. Also an excellent aperitif and with charcuterie.
Delivery: All our wines are stored in our importers bonded warehouse’s, which have the optimum environment for fine wine storage, by carefully regulating temperature, humidity and other microclimatic factors.
