Henri Giraud / MV16 Fût de Chêne.

COUNTRY/REGION: France/Champagne.

GRAPES: Pinot Noir & Chardonnay.

ABV: 12%

VINEYARD: The founding Cuvée of the new Giraud history, a symbol of a return to excellence and the origins of Champagne. Multi Vintage, a guardian of Champagne knowhow and natural modernity, combines traditional craftsmanship and modern winemaking techniques while keeping in mind the period when the great families of Champagne built the region’s history on the genius of its people and its wines.

The hand-embedded clip is a sign of its authenticity.

VINIFICATION: Traditional Champagne blend, 2/3 of the year identified, + 1/3 of perpetual reserve (since 1990). Vinification and ageing in oak barrels for 1 year, 50% of which are new barrels.

Aging of at least 4 years on lees.

TASTING NOTES AND PAIRING: Here is a unique lace built in the image of great perfumes, the perpetual reserve, gentle animal attraction. Salinity and warmth underline the meticulousness, harmony, and dexterity of MV.

EYE: The blond Giraud blond typical of the MV family for a fine and present mousse.

NOSE: One discovers a rich wine, on greedy notes of pastry, ripe yellow fruits and spices (cinnamon).

MOUTH: The mouth offers an elegant, round attack, then unrolls its silky touch, carried by a certain salinity and a touch of minerality. The aftertaste asserts itself with a beautiful freshness, a light menthol presence.

William Kelley, September 2021 Week 4, The Wine Advocate: The NV Brut Grand Cru Aÿ Fût de Chêne MV16 is showing beautifully, offering up a complex bouquet of pear, orange oil, buttered toast, toasted almonds, smoke and honeycomb. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and vinous, with a deep core of fruit, bright girdling acids and a classy pinpoint mousse, it's long and penetrating, with a seamless, elegant profile.
