COUNTRY/REGION: France/Rhone Valley.
GRAPES: 80% Clairette and 20% Roussanne.
WINEMAKER NOTES: Les Abeilles (meaning the bees), is a tribute to the role these insects play in pollinating the vineyards and the emphasis Jean-Luc places on respecting the environment. Crisp yet floral, this is a great food wine.
VINEYARDS: The vineyards are located in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône near the Vinsobres appellation.
VINTAGE: A wet beginning to the season was followed by a really dry and hot summer with temperatures reaching up to 42° C. In January a major rainfall had the effect of delaying harvest from the beginning of February to the beginning of March, allowing flavours to balance with sugar ripeness. Mild and warm conditions in March accompanied by cool nights resulted in an orderly vintage, with steady and timely intake of ripened fruit.
WINE MAKING: The grapes are harvested manually in small cases, in order to respect the quality of the fruit. Upon reception at the winery, the grapes are vinified at low temperature in stainless steel vats.
TASTING NOTES: A homage to the role the hard working bees play in pollinating the vineyards and the emphasis Jean-Luc places on respecting the environment. Clairette and Roussane produce a crisp, floral tribute.
