Believed to be one of the oldest vineyards in the Australia, the purity of it's fruit, the intensity of its flavours and its aging potential easily place the Attunga as a must have for the serious wine connoisseur or collector. Cropping at less than one tonne per acre, the berries were tiny, thick skinned and yielded low levels of extraction from basket pressing after fermentation. Twenty seven months maturation in new French oak hogsheads and bottling the wine unfined and unfiltered has preserved the vineyard's unique terroir and varietal character.
Appearance: Deep red in colour with youthful crimson hues.
Nose: Deeply satisfying and intensely focused, the nose is framed by dark cherries, savoury notes and fine new French oak char.
Palate: An opulently textured yet surprisingly refined and delineated palate, it seamless combines bright cherry notes from the nose with darker licorice and plumy flavours, wrapped up superbly in quality French oak, fine grained fruit tannins and natural acidity.
Bottled: June 2012
