GRAPES: 100% Chardonnay.
WINEMAKER NOTES: Poised and elegant, this shows what lovely wines Louis Jadot make in the Mâcon Crus: dry and fine wines with touches of soft peachy fruit and a delicate nutty rounded character on the long balanced finish.
VINEYARDS: Saint Veran is an appellation that was created in 1971. It lies at the very southern end of Burgundy, to the south of Pouilly Fuissé near Beaujolais. The wines of Saint Veran mature slightly more quickly than those of Pouilly Fuissé. The wines of this area are almost always better for having been kept a couple of years rather than just a year, giving them more interest and complexity.
VINTAGE: After relatively standard winter and spring, the summer of 2015 was marked by heatwaves that started veraison before the middle of July. These drought conditions affected the size of the resulting crop. The cooler weather in August, with some rainfall, allowed the vines to finish their ripening in more or less ideal conditions. The grapes show exceptional depth of colour, an intensity of fruit that is well above the norm.
WINE MAKING: Saint Véran is vinified in stainless steel tanks and bottled in spring in order to keep all its freshness and fruitiness.
TASTING NOTES: Poised and elegant, this shows what lovely wines Louis Jadot make in the Mâcon Crus. Dry and fine with touches of soft peachy fruit and delicate nutty notes.
