GRAPES: 100% Tempranillo.
WINEMAKER NOTES: This wine is made entirely from Tempranillo grapes and is a displays lovely shades of ruby red. On the nose there are hints of violet and clear red fruit aromas. On the palate the wine is velvety, round with red berry flavours and a long finish.
VINEYARDS: All grapes were sourced from Cune's Rioja Alta vineyards.
VINTAGE: The most delayed Rioja harvest of the century. Fortunately, the risk posed by the two-to-three week delay was offset by prevailing good weather in September and October allowing for selective, staggered grape picking, so plots were harvested as the grapes reached appropriate ripeness, thereby optimising fruit quality.
WINEMAKING: Carefully hand harvested, de-stalked, and short macerated, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a temperature between 26 and 28° C to retain varietal aromas. Following alcoholic fermentation the wine was transferred to American oak casks for a period of maturation before it was bottled and released.
TASTING NOTES: A modern, fresh and juicy 100% Tempranillo with good purity of fruit balanced by fresh acidity and smooth tannins.
