VINEYARDS: The Left Field Merlot is a blend select parcels of fruit from our Hawkes Bay vineyards.
VINTAGE: The 2013 Hawkes Bay vintage was simply superb with warm and dry conditions throughout the season, moderated by cool evening temperatures. This led to the fruit being harvested at optimum maturity in pristine condition.
WINEMAKING: The parcels of fruit were harvested and gently de-stemmed into open top fermenters. After a five day cold soak the juices were warmed and fermented naturally. The young wine was drained off and the skins pressed at dryness. After a brief settling period in tank, the new wine went to barrel for secondary fermentation and maturation. The wine spent 18 months in barrel before being bottled.
