COUNTRY/REGION: New Zealand/Marlborough.
GRAPES: 100% Pinot Noir.
UNIT: 1 x 75cl Bottle.
WINEMAKER NOTES: This outstanding Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit parcels from our single vineyard sites. Deep red hues lead to a perfumed bouquet of red and dark cherries, wild berry and subtle spicy notes on the nose. The wine displays intense purity with an elegant and refined palate displaying richness and generosity. The complex palate is layered by fine silky tannins encasing concentrated fruit characters, all hallmark traits of classic Marlborough Pinot Noir. This wine will age gracefully and offer intrigue with bottle maturation.
VINEYARDS: The fruit for this wine represents a unique selection of vineyards, clones and viticultural techniques from both the Awatere and Wairau valleys of Marlborough. The vineyards selected are managed with an unrelenting focus on vine health and balance. Extensive canopy management is carried out to ensure this 'balance' is achieved in addition to a high focus on irrigation regimes to ensure small berry retention.
VINTAGE: The 2014 vintage was warm and the fruit was harvested in pristine conditions from the mid March until early April. Due to the warm days, regular tasting in the vineyard was employed to ensure we captured the flavours at their peak.
WINEMAKING: 100% hand picked, hand plunged open top ferments. Matured for 14 months in a mixture of new and seasoned french barriques. This wine received minimal egg white fining and minimal filtration. It was bottled in September 2014.
TASTING NOTES: Concentrated and ripe with a seductive perfume of red and black cherry and touches of clove, the palate is generous and balanced with silky tannins and rich fruit.
